Rube Goldberg Machine

Modeling, Lighting, Dynamics, and Rube Goldberg Mechanics
I started by gathering photos of items that I thought could work to create a functioning Rube Goldberg Contraption. Taking design elements from Mid Century Modern furniture and electronics in order to create a believable and cohesive living room environment. Then used Apple's FreeForm App to create a collage that I felt was a good starting point.
Next I began modeling the items that would be used in the environment. I worked in Cinema4D with subdivision surface modeling and the volume builder modeling methods.
After modeling everything and setting up the scene I worked to make a warm living room environment. I used the new Redshift Sun and Sky rig in tandem with a portal light and a dome light to match the look of an indoor living room environment. Then to sell a lived in world I used a cloner to create a window frame and added a procedural tree to diffuse the lights and add more variety.
